On Thursday, April 3, State Border Guard officers prevented 24 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total of 439 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.
In total, 39 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, out of whom 19 were detected at the external borders.
• Two persons with forged documents were detected
At the Pāternieki border control point, one Romanian citizen entering Latvia by car was detected, who presented a forged driver's license to the border guards. The person has been held administratively liable. The forged document was seized as part of the administrative proceedings.
Meanwhile, at the Riga Airport border control point, an Uzbek citizen departing from Latvia was detected, who presented a forged Polish residence permit. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of a forged document.
• Entry into Latvia denied to six foreigners
At the border control points of Grebņeva, Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to two Russian citizens because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, and to one more Moldovan, one Russian, one Belarusian and one Ukrainian citizen due to security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for five foreigners
At the border control points of Terekhova and Riga Airport, two citizens of Tajikistan, two Kazakh and one Uzbek were found to have violated the residence conditions (they did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were found for four persons – one Russian, one Indian, one Tajik and one Ukrainian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 16 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – three Latvian, three Lithuanian, three Moldovan, two Estonian, two Uzbek, one Kyrgyz, one Ukrainian and one Chinese citizens.
