On Tuesday, July 8, 71 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6445 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 13 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days, thus exceeding the permitted period of stay; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of India were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 person

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country, who did not have at least one parent’s notarized consent for the child’s departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons -  six citizens of Lithuania and two – of Finland. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, three – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Netherlands, one – of Serbia, one – of Finland one – of Uzbekistan and one – of China.
