General objective

Enhance cooperation and increase efficiency of coordination between BY SBC and LV SBG in fight against cross-border crime and prevention of risks related to irregular migration during large-scale cross-border public events

Specific objectives

  • To increase the capacity of the border agencies in area of border management and with special attention to joint risk analysis during large-scale cross-border public events

  • To expand the operational network of Common Contact Points for information exchange and jointly coordinated activities, including development of skills and knowledge in joint investigation of border incidents at common border

Expected results

  • Enhanced cooperation by signing bilateral Protocol on establishment of two Common Contact Points (land and air)

  • Established Focal Point for BY SBC participation in FRONTEX joint activities

  • Improved efficiency of both agencies by using principles of joint investigation of border incidents

  • Mitigated risks related to irregular migration during large-scale international public events through elaboration of Joint Risk analysis

  • Raised effectiveness of BY SBC border surveillance and border checks by purchasing modern equipment (sensors, passport readers, comparator) and equipping Common Contact Points
