On Sunday, February 4, border guards detained one Tunisian citizen in the Krāslava District for illegal crossing of the state border.

Footprints have been detected during the state border inspection that provide evidence of illegal border crossing between Latvia and Belarus. While carrying out the search activities regarding possible offenders, the border guards detained a Tunisian citizen who again come in sight of the state border guards.

The verification of personal data revealed that the offender has an entry ban applies for Italy, France and, since November last year, Belgium.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated on illegal crossing of the state border. The State Border Guard currently carries out the necessary procedural steps for the offender to be returned to the competent authorities of Belarus in accordance with the procedures specified in the international agreements.

It should be noted that the man, born in 1989, similarly was detained for illegal crossing of the state border last October. The criminal proceedings initiated at that time were terminated because a man was forced to leave the country for committing the criminal offense.
