On Monday, September 8, 38 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9565 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 22 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Vietnam and one – of India, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country for Belarus, who was not in possession of a valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Belarus and one – of Morocco.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four - of Russia, four – of Moldova, two - of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Poland and one – of Ukraine.
