On Saturday, September 6, 57 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9496 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • One foreigner with documents of another person was detected

During immigration control at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Sudanese citizen departing for Brussels, who presented to border guards a Greek non-citizen passport of another person, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

 

at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Russia and one – of Serbia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Syria and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Russia was not initiated.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

 

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Belarus, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – two citizens of Estonia, two – of Somali, two – of Sudan, two – of Egypt and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Russia, three - of Moldova, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Germany.
