On Thursday, September 4, 103 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9387 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Belarus leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Norwegian Vehicle Registration Certificate, was detected. The person was subjected to administrative liability. The forged document was seized.

  • 1 wanted person was detained

 

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered the country from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

 

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova, one – of Turkey and one – of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, two – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Russia was not initiated, the other citizens were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of india.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Moldova, two – of Belarus, two – of Estonia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Germany, one – of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Romania and one – of Serbia.
