Thursday, September 24, 24 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11384 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 25 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
during immigration control at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Sudan leaving Latvia for Sweden, who presented to border guards forged Spanish ID Card of another person, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents and concealing one’s identity.
1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered the country from Scotland, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Belarus and one – of Lithuania due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of China, one – of Great Britain and one - of Canada were detected at the „Riga” Airport and the Terehova Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Great Britain was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country, was detected. The person was prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Latvia, one – of India and one - of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, one – of Moldova and one – of Germany.
