On Friday, September 23, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

25 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one wanted person was detained

at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia entering the Republic of Latvia who is wanted by the polic, was detected. Person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for two foreigners

at „Grebņeva” and „Terehova” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of the Russian Federation, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, and one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area countries. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners

at „Terehova”, „Silene” and Airport „Riga” border control points, two citizens of Georgia, one citizen of Russia, and one citizen of Moldova, who had violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa-free regime) were detected. People are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Latvia

at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to London who was not in possession of a valid travel document required for entering Great Britain was detected. Meanwhile, at the „Silene” border crossing point, one citizen of Latvia without a valid travel document (document was invalid due to a change of surname) was detected. Persons were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four people - three citizens of Russia and one citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Italy, one citizen of Moldova, and one citizen of Romania.
