On Thursday, September 11, 126 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9754 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 22 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Germany, one – of Russia and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country for Scotland, who is subject to exit ban, was detected. The person was prohibited to leave the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Estonia, four - of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, two – of Serbia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of France, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
