On Wednesday, September 10, 50 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9628 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 22 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Vehicle Technical Inspection Certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 18 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Tajikistan and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one - of Turkey, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Germany, two – of Russia, one - of Moldova and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

three citizens of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – five citizens of India, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania and two – of Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Lithuania, two - of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of France, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
