On Monday, September 1, 48 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9265 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Kazakhstan and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Kazakhstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

two citizens of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Philippine were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Moldova, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, two - of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Latvia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Moldova.
