During the holiday period of May 1-4, border guards detected five persons who presented to the border guards fake Covid-19 tests do not corresponding to the samples available to the State Border Guard.

On Saturday, May 1 at the Pāternieki Border Control Point the border guards detected a Dutch citizen entering from Belarus, who presented the border guards a Covid-19 test that did not correspond to the samples available to the State Border Guard, while at the Riga Airport Border Control Point the border guards detected a Latvian citizen with a forged Covid-19 test, she entered from Barcelona.

Both persons were fined according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 500 euros each.

On Tuesday, May 4 at the Terehova Border Control Point border guards stopped a BMW car driven by a Lithuanian citizen, born in 1987. The person presented to the border guards a fake Covid-19 test. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the Lithuanian citizen, the person was handed over to the State Police officials for further procedural actions. At the Riga Airport Border Control Point, border guards detected two Latvian citizens with forged Covid-19 tests entered from Kiev. The persons were fined, according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 680 euros each.

On the other hand, during the working days of last week, April 26-30, the border guards detected 10 persons, presented to the border guards fake Covid-19 tests or such Covid-19 tests, which did not conform to the samples available to the State Border Guard.

On April 26, 27 and 29, one Kazakh citizen entered from Warsaw, one Latvian citizen entered from London and one Russian citizen entered from Minsk with fake Covid-19 tests were detected at the Riga Airport Border Control Point. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the Kazakh citizen and the Latvian citizen, the Russian citizen was fined according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 680 euros.

On April 28 and 30, during immigration control on the highway A2 and A7, in the Aluksne Parish of Veclaicene Municipality and in the Brunava Parish of Bauska Municipality border guards detected two Lithuanian, one Ukrainian and four Uzbek citizens, who presented to the border guards Covid-19 tests did not corresponding to the samples available to the State Border Guard.

Both Lithuanian citizens and one Ukrainian citizen were fined, according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 500 euros each. Administrative proceedings were initiated against Uzbek citizens.

In total, the border guards have already detected 55 persons, who presented fake Covid-19 tests do not corresponding to the samples available to the State Border Guard.
