On Friday, August 2, in Kraslava region 105 000 cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps were seized as a result of operational activities and two persons were detained in connection with the illicit movement of tobacco products.

Officials of the Daugavpils Board of the State Border Guard, checking information on the illegal movement of excise goods, in the Indra civil parish of Kraslava region near the state border, about 400 metres from the railway, detected a Latvian citizen, born in 1989, and a Latvian non-citizen, born in 1995, which moved seven packs wrapped in black polyethylene film with cigarettes.

At the scene the border guards seized 105 000 "Premjer" cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps.

Criminal proceedings were initiated for the illicit movement of tobacco products committed by a group of persons according to a prior agreement. The persons were placed in the State Police Temporary Detention Facility.
