On Tuesday, October 7, 7 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10424 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 25 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Port of Ventspils, while profiling vehicles and passengers on ferry departing for Sweden, one Latvian citizen with a forged Lithuanian driver’s license was detected. The criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized.

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Brazil and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Kazakhstan, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Montenegro, who did not have the notarized consent of the other parent (a Latvian citizen) for the child’s departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Eritrea, one – of Ethiopia and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, three – of Romania, three – of Serbia, two – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Moldova, one – of Mongolia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of China.
