On Monday, October 6, 29 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10417 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 25 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova, two – of Romania, one – of Belarus and one – of Bulgaria due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Belarus were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel documents were not valid for travelling to Great Britain, were detected; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Russia, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of USA and one – of Ethiopia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, two - of Belarus, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Serbia.
