On Thursday, October 30, 2 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5075 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

39 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 20 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners have a Schengen entry ban (they are not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); to one citizen of Serbia, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to six citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two - of Russia and – one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Serbia and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Great Britain was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travelling to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Latvia, two – of Serbia, two – of Germany, one – of Armenia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
