On Friday, October 3, 40 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10354 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 25 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, two – of Moldova, two – of Belarus, one – of Estonia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Tajikistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – three citizens of Estonia, three – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Sudan and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Serbia, three – of Kazakhstan, two - of Romania, two – of Ukraine and one – of Russia.
