On Wednesday, October 29, 36 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11156 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 4 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 30 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Bulgaria leaving the country for Malta, who presented to border guards a forged Bulgarian ID card, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, two - of Belarus and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 11 foreigners

three citizens of Belarus, two – of Zimbabwe, two – of Great Britain, one - of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons - four citizens of Morocco, two – of Ethiopia, one – of Estonia, one – of Algeria, one – of Eritrea, one – of Sudan and one – China.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five - of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
