On Sunday, October 26, 38 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11074 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered the country, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Belarus and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
four citizens of Russia and three – of Turkey were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Turkey was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Belarus, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - four citizens of Lithuania, one - of Estonia and one - of France.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – Uzbekistan.
