On Saturday, October 25, 25 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11036 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country. 7 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected
at the Port of Liepāja, while checking the passenger list, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Germany by ferry, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner
at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The person was returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova and one – of Belarus were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons - three citizens of Estonia, three – of Ethiopia, two – of Morocco, one – of Lithuania and one - of Venezuela.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Moldova, four - of Belarus, two – of Romania, two – of Serbia, one – of Estonia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Macedonia, one – of Netherlands one – of Slovenia.
