On Sunday, October 19, 29 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10931 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one - of Kazakhstan and one – of Poland.
