On Saturday, October 18, 34 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10902 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki Border Control Points and the Port of Ventspils entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkey, as the foreigner could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to five citizens of Moldova, four – of Russia, one – of Estonia, and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

six citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Russia, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons - seven citizens of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Italia one – of Poland, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Kazakhstan, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Syria.
