On Wednesday, October 15, 49 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10780 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva, Terehova, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to three citizens of Russia, two - of Belarus and one – of Norway due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan and one - of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizens of Latvia, departing for United Arab Emirates, who was not in possession of the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - three citizens of Russia and two – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Latvia, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one - of Estonia, one – of France, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
