On Sunday, October 12, 47 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10624 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners 

at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, one – of Moldova and one - of Kazakhstan were detected at the Pāternieki and the Terehova Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – six citizens of Lithuania, three – of Sudan, one - of Estonia and one – of Pakistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Moldova, five - of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Russia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Poland, one - Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
