On Saturday, October 11, 34 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10577 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 wanted citizens of Latvia were detained
at the Port of Ventspils, while conducting immigration control of passengers arriving with a ferry from Sweden, two Latvian citizens, who are wanted by the Police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to five citizens of Russia, one – of Germany and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
three citizens of Russia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Russia, was not initiated. The citizen of Uzbekistan was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – two citizens of Estonia, two – of Ethiopia, two – of Sudan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Colombia, one – of Morocco and one – of Pakistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Romania, two - of Moldova, two – of Serbia, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one - of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
