On Friday, October 10, 11 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10543 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Belarus one – of Germany, one - of Russia, one – of Bulgaria and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Russia, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor non-citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey and one citizen of Latvia, departing for Egypt, who were not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – three citizens of Estonia, two – of Ukraine, two – of Egypt and one – of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three - of Ukraine, two - of Kazakhstan, two - of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
