On Wednesday, October 1, 73 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10313 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 25 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
during immigration control at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Somali, who presented to border guards a forged Identity Card of an Irish citizen, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents and concealing one’s identity.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of India, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, four – of Romania, two – of Belarus and one – of Great Britain due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
one citizen of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Turkey and one – of Azerabizan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Turkey, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons – three citizens of Morocco, three – of Ethiopia, two – of Somali, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Eritrea and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three - of Lithuania, two – of Latvia, two – of Tajikistan, two – of Moldova, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Macedonia, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of China.
