On Tuesday, November 26, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5332 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to eights citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova and one -  of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the citizen of Moldova was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel documents were not valid for travel to Great Britain, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 citizens of Moldova.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Belarus, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Germany, one – of Lithuania and one – of Georgia.
