On Thursday, November 24, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 37 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

21 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to eight foreigners

at “Grebņeva”, “Terehova”, “Silene” and “Pāternieki” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, one citizen of Belarus, and one citizen of Moldova, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. For security reasons, two citizens of Russia and one citizen of Ukraine were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their countries of origin.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners

three citizens of Russia and one citizen of Moldova were detected at the “Pāternieki” and “Grebņeva” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeding the duration of stay specified in a visa). People were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport” border control point, three citizens of Latvia departing for Edinburgh without valid travel documents required for entry into the Great Britain were detected . People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three people - one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Albania, and one citizen of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Latvia, three citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Belarus, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Estonia, and one citizen of Bulgaria, and one citizen of Sudan.
