On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 34 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at “Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Russia, who presented a forged residence permit of Poland was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings. 

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to four foreigners

at “Terehova”, “Grebņeva” and the “Riga” Airport border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine as the foreigner was not in possession of a valid visa or residence permit and to one citizen of Moldova as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. For security reasons, two citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their countries of origin.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by two foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Uzbekistan were detected at the “Terehova” and “Grebņeva” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeding the duration of stay specified in visa). People were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport” border control point, two citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid travel documents required for entering the Great Britain and one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Dubai who did not have a notarized authorization from the other parent for the child to leave the country were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by two citizens of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Latvia, three citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Estonia, and one citizen of Kazakhstan.
