On Thursday, November 20, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11739 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 29 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Belarus and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

three citizens of Russia, two - of Belarus and one – of Moldova were detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid travel document). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – four citizens of Lithuania, two – of Latvia, one – of Guinea and one of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 6 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Serbia, one – of Latvia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
