On Saturday, November 15, 41 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11689 persons have been stopped this year. 

For humanitarian reasons, border crossing was not refused to one person during the past 24 hours. A total 31 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Azerbaijan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, one – of Belarus and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kazakhstan was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – four citizens of Estonia and one – of Egypt.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one - of Israel, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
