On Friday, November 14, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 11648 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 30 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Turkey, as the foreigners has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, one – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

four citizens of Tajikistan, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain and one – for Belarus, who were not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - three citizens of Lithuania, one – of Russia and one – of Sudan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Armenia, one - of Italy, one – of Kyrgyzstan one – of Macedonia, one – Romania and one – of Ukraine.
