Saturday, May 9, 106 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2749 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Russia, two – of Turkey and one - of Kyrgyzstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan, one – of Belarus, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other parsons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Georgia, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected.  The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 21 persons – 11 citizens of Lithuania, six – of Egypt, one – of Estonia, one – of Bangladesh, one – of Moldova and one – of Tunisia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Lithuania, two – of Serbia, one – of Estonia, one – of Belarus, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Ukraine.
