On Friday, May 9, 52 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2798 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Belarus and two - of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – four citizens of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Kyrgyzstan, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two – of Belarus, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of France, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Montenegro, one – of Norway, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
