Friday, May 8, 136 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2643 persons have been stopped this year.
- Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders. Among them, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners. At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Estonia and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Afghanistan, one – of Algeria and of – of Morocco.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three - of Kazakhstan, three – of Romania, two – of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Moldova, one – of Serbia and one – of Germany.
