On Monday, May 5, 59 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2567 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieiki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Test Certificates, was detected. Person was held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, two – of Ukraine, two - of Moldova and two – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Great Britain were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Russia, two - of Belarus, two – of Armenia, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Montenegro, one - of Moldova, one – of Portugal, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
