On Saturday, May 4, 19 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1665 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, one - of Ukraine and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Serbia was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Belarus without valid for travelling to Belarus documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons -  seven citizens of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Belarus and one - of India.

 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, three – of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, three – of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one - of Lebanon, one – of Mongolia, one – of Netherlands and one – of Romania.
