On Saturday, May 3, 130 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2415 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Pāternieiki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged Roadworthiness Test Certificates, was detected. Person was held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized.
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen entered from Great Britain, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one - of Georgia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – five citizen of Estonia, two – of Guinea, one – of Mali and one – of Sudan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three - of Lithuania, three – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Serbia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Great Britain, one - of Moldova, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
