On Thursday, May 29, 81 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4120 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Great Britain, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizens of Moldova and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Georgia, two – of Vietnam and one - of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Vietnam was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – three citizens of Russia, two – of Sudan, one – of Eritrea, one – of Norway, one – of Senegal, one – of Tajikistan and one - of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, four - of Belarus, four - of Moldova, three – of Kazakhstan, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Russia, one – of Albania, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Romania.
