On Wednesday, May 28, 62 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4039 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner is banned from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area countries; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to seven citizens of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one - of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa and residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – three citizens of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Palestine, one – of Estonia, one – of Morocco, one – of Turkmenistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Kazakhstan, two - of Belarus, two – of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, two - of Moldova, two – of Serbia, two - of Ukraine, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Sweden.
