On Tuesday, May 27, 82 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3977 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to four citizens of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Turkey was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Turkey was not initiated.

  • exit from the country was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who do not have the notarised consent of the other parent (EU national) for the child to leave the country, as well as one citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who was prohibited to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Lithuania, three – of Latvia, two - of Moldova, one - of Belarus, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
