On Sunday, May 25, 106 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3863 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected
at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Test Certificates, was detected; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan leaving Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Kyrgyzstan Vehicle Registration Certificate, was detected. The persons were held administratively liable for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukrainedue to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Estonia and two – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three – of Lithuania, two – of Latvia, two - of Belarus, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia and one – of Tajikistan.
