On Thursday, May 22, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3622 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as to three citizens of Russia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus, one – of Russia and one – of Pakistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  two citizens of Azerbaijan, one - of Estonia and one– of Pakistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Belarus, two - of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Armenia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
