On Wednesday, May 21, 56 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3579 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Azerbaijan and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
two citizens of Kyrgyzstan and five – of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons - five citizens of Somalia, two - of Lithuania and two – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Moldova, two – of Belarus, two – of Armenia, two – of Azerbaijan, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Latvia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Israel, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Tajikistan and one - of Uzbekistan.
