On Tuesday, May 21, 76 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1991 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, o persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Moldova leaving the country, who presented to border guards Romanian vehicle registration certificate with a false roadworthiness mark, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Belarus was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation was not initiated.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Riga airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Armenia without valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons -  four citizens of Ukraine, two - of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Estonia and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 9 citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Moldova.
