Wednesday, May 20, 105 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3619 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
2 wanted persons – citizens of Latvia were detained
at the Port of Ventspils and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, while carrying out passenger list checks and profiling, two citizens of Latvia, who are wanted by the police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one - of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
two citizens of Russia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Estonia, one – of Bangladesh, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Egypt.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Moldova, one - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Mongolia, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
