On Friday, May 2, 116 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2285 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected
at the Pāternieiki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged International Insurance Policies for vehicle and trailer, while at the Port of Ventspils, during profiling of passengers leaving Latvia for Sweden by ferry, one citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Driving Licence, were detected. The citizen of Uzbekistan was held administratively liable. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the Latvian citizen for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Port of Ventspuils entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of India, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, and five citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Belarus, who was not in possession of a notarized power of attorney from at least one parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – four citizens of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Algeria.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three – of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Great Britain, one – of Romania and one – of Tajikistan.
