On Thursday, May 2, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1646 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country.
17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Macedonia were detected at the Terehova, the Riga airport and Port of Riga Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Macedonia was not initiated, the other citizens were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons - one citizen of Estonia, one - of India and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 8 citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Mongolia.
